2010 RNA “Paddock to Palate” Beef Competition - read full details

The Beef Committee of the RNA is pleased to advise that entries are now open for the 2010 Class 37 Paddock to Palate Beef Competition to be held in conjunction with the 2010 Royal Queensland Show.

This comprehensive beef supply chain competition, a first for any major Show in Australia, is one that should entice all end product and customer focused beef producers to accept the challenge of this event.

Breed Societies will also be eager to promote this competition amongst their members and put their breed promotional and marketing spiels to the tests in this encompassing feed chain competition. read full details

116 students attended the 16th Santa Gertrudis Junior Camp at Warwick on 12-16 January. Show results are as follows:

• Brent Evans from Kingaroy won the Champion Herdsperson of the Show having successfully competed in commercial and stud cattle judging as well as in the Paraders Competition.

• Brent was awarded a purebred Santa Gertrudis heifer donated by Max & Leola Leggett, Hillside SG Stud, Tamworth.

• Michaela Russell, Swan Hill, Blackall was awarded the R.J. Kleberg Memorial Scholarship for 2010 and will be the Santa Gertrudis Youth Ambassador for the ensuing year. Michaela is in her final year of university study in business management and marketing.

• Mitchell Farley a local from Warwick won the Sir James Walker Memorial trophy as the Champion Judge of the stud cattle section. This was Mitchell’s fifth year as a student at the Junior Show.
